Finchley Chamber Choir is currently looking for a few new voices. It is a friendly but hard-working locally based group of about 30 singers, usually giving five concerts each season in Trinity Church, Nether Street, North Finchley, N12 7NN, as well as other occasional performances at home and abroad and some BBC broadcasts. Our regular rehearsal night is Tuesday (7.45pm - 10.00pm) at our concert venue.
The choir performs the widest range and variety of music from the 16th century through to new commissions, from unaccompanied motets and part-songs through to full-scale choral works accompanied by its sister organisation Finchley Symphony Orchestra. Basically, if it's suitable for FCC we sing it! You can get a better idea of our range at Hear FCC.
We aim for the highest standards and work quickly, learning by sight-reading rather than by listening and repeating. There are regular opportunities (not obligatory!) for solo work, which is almost always assigned to choir members rather than to professional soloists.
To get a better idea of how we work and what we expect from choir members, please read our Membership Guidelines (PDF file).
If you're a singer with some experience of choral singing and sight-reading, and you're interested in joining us, please contact Jessica Percival (Secretary), email secretary@fcchoir.co.uk or telephone 020 8367 0018. She can send you an application form and then invite you to come and sing in a couple of rehearsals so that you have a chance to meet and hear us. After this, joining the choir involves a simple audition, to let the musical director hear what you can do. Jessica can also discuss all other matters including subscriptions.
